The Mortgage Journey

1st Appointment: The Initial Meeting

The initial meeting is for us to get to know each other and to develop a shared understanding of your specific needs and circumstances.  Broadly, it will look at how Archie John Financial can assist in saving you time, money and, if needed, help you find your new home.

In order to help the appointment flow it’s always best to send through or bring the requested documents in order to assess which lenders will look at your specific situation.  This is key in choosing the right lender.

We cover a number of areas in the first appointment such as:

  • Services and Fees

  • Mortgage Repayment Types and Schemes

  • Confirmation of ID and Residency

  • Income and Expenditure

  • Choices for an Agreement in principle

  • Arrange a Mortgage Certificate

The main three objectives are to leave you at the end of the appointment knowing how much money you will need to budget for:

  1. The transaction related upfront costs and fees

  2. The monthly expenditure you will need to find long term

  3. Your affordability in terms of the price of property you can buy or remortgage

2nd Appointment: The Customer Service Review

By this point you’ll be in a much more advanced stage of the journey. The appointment will include getting together and:

  • Reviewing mortgage offers

  • Reviewing protection arrangements

  • Explaining the next steps of packaging your plan

  • On exchange and completion, payment of fees*

*These fees will be clearly set out by the adviser in your initial meeting.

There will be a fee for mortgage advice. The precise amount will depend upon your circumstances but may range from £295 to £499 and is payable only on completion.

IMPORTANT: Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
